Police in Meru County have arrested a nun in connection with the brutal slaying of Sister Anselimina Karimi, a 65-year-old administrator at Meru Children’s Home in Nkabune.
According to authorities, Sister Karimi was discovered dead in her house on Sunday, October 12. Her body was found in the dining room, with blood seeping from her mouth, ears, and nose.
She also suffered a head injury, indicating she may have been struck with a blunt object.

The nun, believed to be the main suspect, was reportedly poised to assume management of the children’s home from Sister Karimi.
Police say investigators are probing whether the victim was killed elsewhere before her body was transported into her home.
In what investigators have described as a possible attempt to tamper with evidence, the crime scene was reportedly “cleaned” before officers arrived.
A source told The Standard that the suspect was the one who raised the alarm, calling for help and insisting Sister Karimi be taken to Consolata Hospital, Nkubu — approximately a 20-minute drive away.
By the time the victim reached the hospital, she was pronounced dead.
Family members reported that Sister Karimi had previously voiced fears for her life.
Her mobile phone has yet to be recovered; it is reported to have been switched off around 11 p.m. on the night in question.
The Imenti East Police Commander confirmed that the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (DCI) has taken over the investigation.
Detectives are examining the suspect’s phone data and other evidence to reconstruct her movements and communications around the time of the murder.
At present, the motive for the murder remains unclear. Police are exploring all leads, including the possibility of internal friction over management of the children’s home.
