A high school principal in Narok County has been suspended over suspected examination malpractice during the ongoing KCSE exams.
Narok County Director of Education Apollo Apuko confirmed the suspension on Monday, noting that the school head failed to follow set examination regulations.
The deputy principal has been directed to take charge for the remainder of the exam period.

“He was not working in accordance with the regulations that were set, and therefore the Deputy Principal will take over and run the examinations until they end,” Apuko stated.
Meanwhile, security agencies in Kajiado County have launched investigations into suspected irregularities at a top private boarding school in Isinya.
The institution, which topped the 2024 KCSE national exams, is under scrutiny, although officials did not disclose the exact nature of the suspected malpractice.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba confirmed isolated cases of exam cheating attempts across the country, warning that anyone caught will face strict consequences.
“There have been isolated attempts at examination malpractices. Individuals who were implicated have been arrested, and the incidents are under investigation to inform further disciplinary and criminal action,” Ogamba said.
He added that the government has intensified measures to secure exam integrity and will take immediate action against offenders.
Director of Public Prosecutions Renson Ingonga also issued a stern warning, vowing to prosecute any individual engaged in exam malpractice regardless of rank or position.
“We will prosecute anyone involved in malpractice from the lowest to the highest,” Ingonga said.
The CS also addressed the ongoing heavy rains affecting parts of the country.
He noted that helicopters have been deployed to deliver exam papers in areas cut off by floods and landslides, including Elgeyo Marakwet, which has experienced two landslides in three days.
“We have deployed helicopters to deliver examination materials to accessible centralised locations to ensure that examinations proceed as scheduled,” Ogamba added.
KCSE written exams officially kicked off on Monday, with security and surveillance heightened across all centres.
