Grief at Sigalagala Polytechnic as Two Students Die Days Before KNEC Exams

The Sigalagala National Polytechnic community has been plunged into mourning following the untimely deaths of two of its students.

In a statement released on Monday, the institution confirmed the passing of Marion Omondi Auma and Martin Omondi Oduor, describing it as a huge loss to the Sigalagala family.

Marion, admitted under registration number DAGEL/0099/24M, and Martin, DHRIT/0063/24S, were described as bright and dedicated students whose absence will be deeply felt by classmates and lecturers alike.

“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our fellow students, Marion Omondi Auma and Martin Omondi Oduor. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families, friends, and classmates during this difficult time,” read part of the condolence message shared by the institution president Wilberforce Mali.

The loss comes at a particularly difficult time for the polytechnic, as students are currently preparing for the KNEC November examination series.

The administration noted that the tragedy has emotionally affected many, even as efforts continue to provide counseling and support to those impacted.
