President William Ruto has outlined an ambitious electoral target for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA)–Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) alliance, insisting the coalition must secure victory in the 2027 General Election by a margin of between two and three million votes.

Speaking on Monday, January 26, 2026, while addressing the UDA National Governing Council, the President expressed confidence that the emerging alliance has the numbers, strategy, and nationwide reach required to deliver a landslide win.

Ruto reminded party leaders that his victory in the 2022 presidential race was secured by a narrow margin of approximately 200,000 votes, arguing that such slim outcomes limit a government’s ability to decisively implement long-term reforms.

According to the President, sustainable leadership and national transformation require a much broader public mandate.

He strongly defended the growing cooperation between UDA and ODM, describing it as a calculated effort to unite the country and dismantle the long-standing politics of exclusion that often follow contested elections.

“There is justification for us to consolidate the country into one,” Ruto said. “There is enough for every Kenyan. One does not need to miss for the other one to get.”

The President stressed that governance should never be anchored on exclusion, adding that the inclusion of ODM leaders in government reflects political maturity and a shared commitment to national development over narrow party interests.

Ruto noted that the UDA–ODM partnership sits at the core of advancing the Kenya Kwanza transformation agenda that has defined his administration since taking office.

He cited what he termed a strong performance record, arguing that the government has built a credible scorecard to present to voters ahead of the 2027 polls.

Among the key pillars of the administration’s development agenda, the President highlighted the scaling up of energy production, modernization of agriculture, and accelerated infrastructure development across the country.

Ruto maintained that Kenya Kwanza’s focus on energy, agriculture, and infrastructure provides a clear roadmap for economic growth, but warned that its success depends on political stability and an overwhelming electoral mandate.

However, he acknowledged that development achievements alone would not guarantee re-election, emphasizing the need for a disciplined and well-coordinated political strategy to mobilize voters and secure a decisive victory.

He concluded by urging UDA leaders to prioritize unity, service delivery, and grassroots engagement, arguing that a commanding win in 2027 would grant the coalition the legitimacy required to implement its agenda without disruption.
