President William Ruto has lauded Attorney General Dorcas Oduor for her competence while openly criticizing her predecessor, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi, for what he termed as incompetence during his tenure as AG.
Speaking during an Iftar dinner at State House, Nairobi, Ruto accused Muturi of failing to effectively handle legal matters, particularly in the establishment of the Waqf commission.
“I had a problem with the AG who was there (Justin Muturi). He was fairly incompetent. But now, I have a very competent lady in the position, and I can assure you that the issues of Waqf will be sorted out within months,” Ruto stated.

Muturi, who served as Attorney General from October 2022 to July 2024 before being appointed Public Service CS, has recently been vocal in criticizing the government over alleged abductions and extrajudicial killings.
He claimed that his son was abducted and urged President Ruto to take action, even as he rejected calls for his resignation amid rising tensions within the administration.
The exchange underscores the growing friction within Ruto’s government, with Muturi’s claims further fueling concerns over human rights and governance issues in Kenya. It remains to be seen how the administration will navigate these internal divisions and public concerns.
