Citizen TV has obtained exclusive information shedding new light on the investigation into the mysterious death of Albert Ojwang, who died while in police custody at the Central Police Station.
Authorities are now relying heavily on CCTV footage to reconstruct the final moments of Ojwang’s detention. Documents reviewed by Citizen TV confirm that Ojwang was booked at 2:35 a.m. on charges of false publication.

This tight timeline has become central to the ongoing investigation. Officers from the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) have maintained a strong presence at the station for the second day in a row, amid heightened police activity both inside and outside the premises.

A preliminary assessment of the station’s security system shows eight surveillance cameras installed across six key areas. Four are located at the main entrance—two pointing inward and two outward—while two others cover the reporting area adjacent to the holding cells.
These cameras are now critical to uncovering what happened between the time Ojwang was detained and when he was found dead.
Investigators have collected several items from the cell where Ojwang was held. These include a pair of blood-stained white Crocs, a black top with blood marks, a wet maroon sweater, a water bottle, a plastic cup, a jug, and a tumbler.
Blood stains were reportedly visible on the cell’s walls and floor, which also had smears of water.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja visited the scene alongside his deputies Gilbert Masengeli and Eliude Lagat, Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations, and the IPOA chairperson. IG Kanja reaffirmed the seriousness of the case:
