Kakamega Opens Recruitment for 3,000 Youth and Women — Here’s How to Apply

The County Government of Kakamega has announced the recruitment of 3,000 service men and women under the County Youth Service and Women Empowerment Programme.

According to a notice from the County Youth Service, the programme is in line with the Constitution of Kenya 2010 (Article 55), the County Governments Act No. 17 of 2012, and the Kakamega County Youth and Women Service Act No. 5 of 2019.

It aims to create opportunities for young people and women to engage in economically viable ventures while contributing to community development.

The programme will focus on activities such as road maintenance, bush clearing, drainage system maintenance, market cleaning, sentry services, office support services, and other lawful assignments as directed by the Programme Director.

Principal Responsibilities

Recruited service men and women will undertake duties including:

  • Road maintenance
  • Bush clearing
  • Maintenance of drainage systems
  • Office cleaning and support services
  • Cleaning of market centers
  • Sentry services
  • Any other lawful assignments by the Programme Director

Entry Requirements

Applicants must:

  1. Have a valid Kenyan ID card or passport.
  2. Be residents of Kakamega County in a specified community area.
  3. Be aged between 18–35 years (youth) and 35–55 years (women).
  4. Be of sound medical condition.
  5. Be physically fit and able to undertake physical activities.
  6. Pass an aptitude test.
  7. Be ready to undergo paramilitary training if selected.
  8. Submit copies of their national ID card.
  9. Sign an undertaking to attend training at County Polytechnics twice a week.
  10. Present their original documents during recruitment.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should collect and fill out application forms from their respective ward administrator’s offices. Duly filled forms must be returned to the same offices on or before October 10, 2025.

The County Government has warned that canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.

Successful candidates will be required to provide a certificate of good conduct and will receive a monthly stipend. Persons with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.
