A family in Gituamba village, Kiambu County, is mourning the tragic death of Stephen Mathia Njoroge, who was fatally stabbed by his cousin following a heated argument during the English Premier League clash between Manchester United and Chelsea.
According to witnesses, the dispute erupted shortly after Manchester United’s 2-1 victory on Sunday night.
What began as a football debate quickly turned violent.

The suspect, identified as James Mbugua, allegedly stabbed Njoroge in the stomach, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Relatives expressed shock, describing both men as close and generally peaceful, but suggested that alcohol consumption may have played a role in escalating the altercation.
Police confirmed that the suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack but was later arrested.
He is currently in custody as investigations continue.
The incident adds to a growing list of disputes in Kenya linked to alcohol abuse and football rivalries, sparking renewed calls from community leaders for awareness and conflict resolution initiatives.
