AIC Chebisaas Boys High School in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, is tonight witnessing a student strike that has spilled out of the school compound and into the public, drawing concern from parents, residents, and education stakeholders.
According to reports circulating on X (formerly Twitter), students have stormed out of the school and are currently marching along Kimumu Road toward Eldoret town.
The unrest appears to have been sparked by dissatisfaction with a school-organized entertainment event held earlier in the day.

Students had reportedly contributed Ksh. 250 each for the concert but were disappointed by the artist invited—Kalenjin performer Jose Jose—claiming they expected a different act.
The situation quickly escalated, with some students labeling the choice an act of tribal favoritism.
In addition to concert-related complaints, students were heard chanting “COOK MUST GO,” a slogan whose meaning remains unclear but is believed to reflect deeper frustrations directed at the school administration or a specific member of staff.
The protest has caused traffic disruptions on nearby roads, with videos showing groups of students chanting and waving placards as they move.
As of now, there are no confirmed reports of injuries, arrests, or property damage. Authorities, including the school administration and local police, are yet to issue an official statement.
This incident adds to a growing pattern of unrest in Kenyan secondary schools, particularly during the second term, when tensions tend to rise due to academic pressure, limited freedoms, and perceived injustices.
The situation at Chebisaas remains fluid, and it is unclear whether the school will be closed or disciplinary action taken.
The school had previously made headlines after a fire broke out in one of its dormitories, damaging property belonging to 128 students.
That fire, which occurred during morning preps at around 5:30 AM, was treated as an accident, with no casualties reported. Investigations were launched at the time, and the school remained operational.
