In response to the growing tension, President Ruto is reported to have deployed Roads and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen to handle Rift Valley political affairs — a role previously tied to Cheruiyot’s influence.
Murkomen’s first assignment includes a diplomatic engagement with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, who had been publicly demeaned by Cheruiyot.
Murkomen has since begun intensifying grassroots engagements across the Rift Valley, a region that remains critical for Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid.
