Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) interim deputy party leader Cleophas Malala has strongly asserted that President William Ruto will not be able to rig the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a roadside address in Voi, Taita Taveta County, Malala accompanied DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on a tour of Kenya’s coastal region. The tour comes amid heightened political activity following the launch of DCP last month.
Malala, formerly the Secretary-General of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), declared that the same individuals who allegedly helped Ruto ascend to power in 2022 have now joined the opposition camp to ensure electoral integrity in 2027.

“I was the Secretary-General in Ruto’s UDA party; Gachagua was his deputy. When we tell you this person is a thief, believe us—we know him in and out,” Malala said, drawing cheers from the gathered crowd.
“He is trying to threaten Kenyans that he will steal votes. But those who helped you do that last time are now here with us. No vote will be stolen in 2027. We have united,” he added, signaling a significant political realignment ahead of the next elections.
DCP’s Upcoming Mega Launch
The remarks came as DCP grapples with logistical hurdles ahead of its much-anticipated official party launch. The party was initially set to hold its launch at the Kasarani Indoor Arena on June 3, but the venue booking was abruptly cancelled, a move the party views as politically motivated.
Speaking to the media following a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting chaired by Gachagua, Malala confirmed that the party has formed a special committee to scout for an alternative venue that can accommodate the expected massive turnout.
“We are expecting between 40,000 to 50,000 attendees. This is not just a regular political event—it will be a people’s launch,” Malala said, emphasizing the grassroots energy behind the DCP.
He added that strategic partners have already offered several potential venues, and once the committee concludes its assessment, new launch details will be communicated to supporters.
“We are considering both capacity and amenities. Once the report is ready, we will announce the date and venue,” he assured.
Despite the challenges, DCP leaders maintain that the momentum behind their movement is growing. With prominent figures like Gachagua, Kalonzo, and Malala actively crisscrossing the country, the party appears determined to position itself as a formidable political force heading into 2027.
