A tragic case of suspected femicide has shaken residents of 64 Estate in Ol’ Joro Orok Constituency after 24-year-old Angela Muthoni was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend.

According to reports, Muthoni’s boyfriend, Alex Ndung’u, was arrested alongside four other individuals accused of helping him move her body.

It is believed that Ndung’u hired a tuk-tuk to transport the lifeless body to a local clinic, from where she was referred to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital.

Medics at the facility confirmed that she had died hours earlier.

The deceased’s family, from Endarasha in Nyeri County, was notified through a distressing phone call.

Her aunt, Jane Maina, said police directed them to conduct a postmortem, which revealed Angela died from strangulation and blunt force trauma to the head. She also sustained visible bruises on her face.

Angela’s mother, Beatrice Njoki, expressed deep grief and demanded justice, remembering her daughter as “a vibrant and promising young woman.”

The family is now calling on authorities to ensure those responsible are held accountable.

Jane Maina also appealed to the government and women representatives to take stronger action against rising cases of gender-based violence, particularly intimate partner killings.

Kenya has seen a worrying increase in femicide cases, with many women losing their lives in domestic or romantic relationships.

Human rights organizations and community leaders are urging people to seek help—whether through counseling or separation—rather than resort to violence.

As police continue investigations, Muthoni’s family joins a growing number of Kenyans demanding justice and stronger protections for women.
