Suba North Member of Parliament (MP) Millie Odhiambo has playfully responded to Oburu Oginga’s lighthearted confession that he once secretly admired her, turning what could have been an awkward revelation into a moment of humor and camaraderie.
Speaking during a public event in Ugunja on Saturday, November 8, 2025, Millie joked that Oburu should have spoken up earlier, quipping that she might have ended up as “the spouse of a party leader” if he had made his feelings known sooner.
“I have heard that the ‘youth leader’ confessed that he used to admire me. I can’t believe he just kept looking at a beautiful girl like me silently until a Zimbabwean man made away with me,” Millie said in her local dialect, drawing laughter from the crowd.

Millie, who is married to Mabona, a Zimbabwean national, added with a smile that Oburu’s silence might have cost him a golden chance.
“Now that he is the party leader, I would have been in a good place. But it has not escaped me,” she teased.
Her remarks came shortly after Oburu Oginga, the elder brother to ODM leader Raila Odinga, made his revelation during the burial of Rose Otieno, widow of the late Senator Otieno Kajwang’, in Nyanza.
In his speech, Oburu fondly recalled his first encounter with Millie during ODM campaign activities, praising her organizational skills and charisma.
“I knew Millie Gesa Gesa through Kajwang’. She impressed me with her coordination — she had arranged everything for our campaign tour. She was so beautiful that sometimes she confused me,” Oburu said, sending mourners into laughter.
The friendly exchange between the two ODM politicians has since sparked amusement online, with many Kenyans applauding their humor and warmth amid the often tense political atmosphere.
