Police later moved in to calm the situation, dispersing angry residents before collecting the bodies for transfer to a local mortuary.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Juja, Kiambu County, two people died and another was critically injured after a water tank they were repairing collapsed.
Juja Deputy County Commissioner Daniel Ndege said five workers had been called in to fix the tank, which was supported by concrete pillars and iron sheets.
During the repair works, the structure buckled, trapping three workers. Two died on the spot, while the injured was rushed to Naindu Hospital in Makongeni, Thika, where he is recovering.
Preliminary investigations suggest that weakened concrete pillars caused the collapse.
Kiambu County inspectors have since launched an inquiry into the safety of the structure, which was used by a local industry.
