Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, has alleged that he was attacked by a group of heavily armed individuals claiming to be officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), in what he has described as a targeted and terrifying ambush.
In a statement issued on [insert date/time], MP Salasya claimed that his convoy was intercepted by the group, who disarmed his security detail and confiscated their firearms. He further alleged that the assailants fired directly at his vehicle and appeared intent on harming him.
“These people, heavily armed and moving with force, ambushed my convoy, disarmed my security team—confiscating their firearms—and pursued my vehicle,” Salasya said. “One of my security personnel managed to escape and helped me flee into a nearby bush for safety.”

According to the MP, the attackers—estimated to be carrying at least 15 AK47 rifles—eventually caught up with him and issued a chilling warning. However, he declined to disclose the nature of the threat, citing security concerns.
“What I will say is this: I have not been mentioning the government in my rallies, and I have stayed true to my call for peace and progress,” he added.
The legislator also claimed that he was in the process of being taken to an undisclosed location and urged both the public and relevant authorities to take note of the unfolding situation.
“I urge all relevant authorities and the public to take note of what is happening,” Salasya said.
