Mary Biketi, the partner of former Kakamega Governor and current Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, has condemned a violent incident in which her luxurious SUV was vandalized by suspected goons during a visit to Trans Nzoia County.

Biketi, who was in the region as part of her outreach through the Mary Biketi Foundation, was spotted atop her SUV waving cheerfully to residents as she toured the county. The visit was aimed at empowering vulnerable members of society and recruiting ambassadors for her foundation’s noble initiatives.

However, the mood quickly turned grim after her vehicle was attacked and damaged by unknown assailants. Speaking in an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, Biketi described the incident as unfortunate and uncalled for.

“I am very sad for what has happened to us today. The objective of my foundation is to empower the less fortunate in society, and our campaign is not in any way political,” she said.

“I want to take this strongest opportunity to condemn the violence meted on our team while undertaking the well-meaning initiative meant to empower our society in Trans Nzoia County today.”

Members of the Mary Biketi Foundation who were present also voiced their concerns. Peninah Makambi called for immediate investigations and the arrest of those responsible.

“Such acts of political hooliganism are unacceptable. The authorities must act swiftly to ensure justice is served,” she said.

Morgan Chesoni and Ali B, who work with the foundation, remained undeterred and vowed to continue with their mission.

“We are very worried about what transpired today at Kitale Museum. While we ask our youths to shun such backward behaviour, we also want to know who sent the goons,” said Ali B.

He added a message to the youth in the county:

“Don’t allow yourselves to be used by selfish politicians. We will not take revenge, but we will also not be intimidated.”

Despite the setback, the Mary Biketi Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to serving communities and supporting the less fortunate.
