    Pastor Victor Kanyari has penned a moving message following the death of his ex-wife and celebrated gospel singer Betty Bayo, who succumbed to leukemia on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Kenyatta National Hospital.

    In a heartfelt statement, Kanyari reflected on their shared past, describing the pain of losing someone who remained family despite their separation.

    “It hurts in ways I can’t explain. You left before I could say everything I needed to. I still see you in every laugh our children give, in every little habit that reminds me of you,” he said.

    “We had our moments, both the fire and the calm, but through it all, you were family. I’ll carry your memory, your love, and your spirit forever. Rest easy, you’ll always be missed.”

    Bayo passed away at 1:03 p.m. after a long battle with advanced-stage leukemia.

    A family spokesperson confirmed that she had been admitted on Friday, November 7, suffering from excessive bleeding before her condition worsened.

    Her body has since been transferred to the KU Referral Hospital Mortuary, with burial arrangements expected to be announced in the coming days.

    Tributes have continued to pour in from across the country. Bishop Muthee Kiengei described Bayo as a pillar of inspiration in the gospel music scene, best known for her uplifting hit “Eleventh Hour.”

    “She lived a life of praising God and has left a legacy that will forever inspire generations,” Kiengei stated.

    President William Ruto also mourned her, praising her voice as one that “carried hope and touched souls across Kenya.”
