President William Ruto has pledged to sponsor two Kenyan football superfans for a trip to the United Kingdom to watch their favorite English Premier League clubs play live.
The Head of State made the announcement during an interaction with Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o.
The conversation began with Jalang’o commenting on the progress of Talanta Stadium, which is in its final stages of construction ahead of the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

During the exchange, Jalang’o challenged the President to sponsor Manchester United superfan Masagara for a trip to Old Trafford to watch his beloved club, Manchester United, live.
Ruto, a known supporter of Arsenal F.C., was initially hesitant. However, he agreed on one condition — that an Arsenal fan would also be sponsored.
The President eventually settled on sponsoring both Masagara and popular Arsenal content creator Usefulidioty for a UK trip to watch their respective clubs in action.
“If you accepted that I buy Usefulidioty a ticket since he is an Arsenal fan, I will also sponsor Masagara,” Ruto said. “I will buy business class tickets and they will also get accommodation. Once they get the experience, they will know what goes down at Talanta.”
The move has sparked excitement among football fans online, with many praising the President for embracing football culture and engaging youthful audiences.
This marks the second time in recent weeks that President Ruto has joined viral online challenges involving popular content creators.
Last week, he weighed in on the much-hyped amateur boxing bout between TikTok sensations ‘Majembe’ and ‘Mbavu Destroyer’. At Jalang’o’s request, the President pledged Ksh1 million to each contestant and offered to sponsor tickets for 4,000 fans to attend the match.
The bout, organized by comedian and media personality Oga Obinna, has evolved from online banter into one of Kenya’s most anticipated amateur sporting events.
