A faction of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders allied to the party’s Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has unveiled the “Linda Mwananchi Tour,” a grassroots political mobilisation drive set to begin in Busia County, signaling renewed political activity and internal positioning within the opposition party.
The tour is scheduled to be launched in Busia Town on Sunday, February 8, and is expected to draw together a cross-section of ODM lawmakers, party officials, and political commentators for a series of public engagements and rallies.
Organisers say the initiative will provide a platform to engage citizens on governance, the economy, and broader political developments.

Among the senators expected to attend are Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Richard Onyonka, Godfrey Osotsi, and Erick Okong’o Mogeni.
Several Members of the National Assembly have also been listed as participants, including Babu Owino, Caleb Amisi, Wanami Wamboka, Patrick Makau, Joshua Kimilu, and Majimbo Kalasinga.
Other ODM lawmakers expected to take part in the Busia mobilisation include Wilberforce Oundo, Raphael Wanjala, Caroli Omondi, Obadiah Barongo, Clive Gisairo, and Antoney Kibagendi.
Political analyst Brian Weke is also listed among the participants, despite not holding an elected position, highlighting the tour’s broader engagement with political commentary and public discourse.
The lineup for the Busia tour largely features ODM leaders who have publicly opposed the emerging cooperation framework between the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and sections of ODM.
This has underscored the growing ideological and strategic divisions within the party.
The “Linda Mwananchi” slogan reflects a political narrative centred on economic hardship, governance reforms, and the protection of civil rights—issues that have dominated recent opposition rhetoric.
Organisers say the tour is aimed at reconnecting ODM leaders with grassroots supporters while articulating an alternative political agenda.
Although ODM has not issued an official party-wide statement on the initiative, the tour highlights deepening rifts within the party.
Leaders allied to figures such as Oburu Oginga have publicly expressed support for cooperation with the ruling coalition, contrasting sharply with the stance taken by the Sifuna-led faction.
The mobilisation comes amid early political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 General Election, with competing ODM factions seeking to consolidate both regional and national influence as the opposition charts its future direction.
