Mali reassured students that his administration will focus on service, accountability, and transparency. He outlined key areas of priority, including:
- Enhancing security within the institution
- Ensuring the timely release of exam results
- Initiating a one-study program for academic flexibility
- Strengthening student-landlord relations
- Addressing issues related to student identification
He particularly highlighted the student ID issue, noting that many students struggle to access services due to the lack of physical identification. “I will advocate for a more flexible system where students can use alternative means such as admission numbers or digital codes to access services when necessary,” he affirmed.
Outgoing President’s Farewell Message
Michael Orubia, the outgoing student president, reflected on his tenure and the progress made under his leadership. He pointed out key achievements, including the installation of street lights around the institution and the introduction of an online clearance system.
“I have personally left Sigalagala at a higher level. Whether you like it or not, you must acknowledge that today we have street lights, as I promised, and an online clearance system, thanks to the administration,” he stated.
Before handing over power, Orubia offered words of encouragement to his successor, citing a Bible verse from Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
With the new leadership in place, Sigalagala National Polytechnic students look forward to a transformative and progressive term under the stewardship of Wilberforce Mali and his team.
