Grief and disbelief have gripped residents of Tach Asis village in Konoin, Bomet County, following a horrifying incident where a 35-year-old man allegedly beheaded his two children in cold blood.
The suspect, identified as Geoffrey Kipkemoi, is said to have used a kitchen knife to commit the gruesome act, which claimed the lives of his two children aged 2 and 7 years.
Confirming the incident, Bomet County Police Commandant Edward Imbwaga said Kipkemoi placed the lifeless bodies of his children in the family kitchen after carrying out the brutal killings.

According to a police report, the suspect’s wife was away from home at the time of the incident. Upon returning, she was met with a trail of bloodstains, which led her to the kitchen where she stumbled upon the bodies of her children—a discovery that left the community in shock and anguish.
She immediately raised the alarm, prompting neighbors and local authorities to rush to the scene. Police officers from the area secured the crime scene, processed the evidence, and recovered the suspected murder weapon—a kitchen knife believed to have been used in the killings.
The bodies of the young victims were moved to the Kapkatet Hospital Mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police have since arrested Kipkemoi, who is currently in custody as authorities work to uncover the motive behind the chilling act. Investigations are underway to determine the mental state of the suspect and the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.
Local leaders and residents have condemned the act, calling for swift justice and greater attention to mental health support in rural communities, particularly in areas where domestic tensions and stressors often go unaddressed.
