A police officer in charge of Rwanyambo Police Post in Nyandarua County has been interdicted following a disturbing incident in which a woman suffered a miscarriage while in custody.

In a statement released on Thursday evening, National Police Service (NPS) Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga confirmed that an investigation had been launched to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The probe is being conducted jointly by the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).

Nyaga stated that the police service is taking the matter seriously and that disciplinary action had already been initiated.
